The 5 Best Kids’ Dentists in Singapore

The 5 Best Kids’ Dentists in Singapore

Experience & Qualifications

Providing paediatric care isn’t as easy as it sounds. We looked at the paediatric credentials of each dentist and, more importantly, their history in handling children.

Tending to a child requires patience and creativity. We gathered clinics and dentists that set up a child-oriented environment to keep kids calm and comfortable.

Parents’ Feedback

A child’s visit to the dentist is their own experience as much as it is their parents. We listened to what parents had to say about their experiences with each clinic and chose the ones that left positive impressions.

Affordability & Transparency

Dental treatment is not the cheapest commodity, especially if you have to do it regularly. We selected clinics that provide competitive prices and are Baby Bonus-accredited.

  • Lively and safe environment for children
  • Keeps parents comfortable as well
  • Serves free coffee
  • Located next to an MRT station
  • Competitive pricing

  • Shorter hours compared to other clinics
  • Closed on Sundays
  • Located in a traffic prone area

Azure Dental is a clinic that we associate with “fun.”

We have a soft spot for this clinic because it’s what we envisioned a paediatric clinic should be: enjoyable for the kids and pleasant for the parents.

Its vision is what we appreciate most about Azure Dental. We value that it considers the relationship between the parent and the child in providing services.

We also like that it ensures that the parents are as comfortable as the child, especially where treatments and surgeries are involved. The lively environment in the clinic where children can play makes every visit memorable – a plus in our books!

Furthermore, we love how its clinic uses child-friendly equipment to ensure safety. The waiting area for the parents is chic and cosy as well — and did we mention the coffee?

This is one of the features most loved by the parents we interviewed — it provides luscious coffee for parents in the waiting room to keep them relaxed as they wait.

We also appreciate how it offers competitive rates compared to other private clinics. Plus, it focuses on preventive methods so your child’s dental health would endure and you wouldn’t find yourself returning to the dentist frequently.

Unfortunately, Azure Dental is a humble clinic with only one branch. It’s also closed on Sundays and is only open for extended hours on Monday and Thursday.

Moreover, the clinic’s area is prone to heavy traffic. On the bright side, it’s right next to an MRT station, so going by train wouldn’t be a hassle.

  • Broad range of treatment services
  • Quality childcare service
  • Engaging environment for children and parents

  • Has only one clinic for paediatric services
  • Closed on Sundays
  • Located in a traffic-prone area

Royce Dental Surgery is one of the most notably accessible orthodontic services in Singapore, with nearly 20 clinics scattered across Singapore.

However, only its clinic in Katong i12 mall offers paediatric dental services for children.

As its first and only Paediatric clinic, Royce Dental Surgery took dedicated steps to design the Orthodontic & Paediatric Dental Centre so that it’s engaging for children.

But what makes this clinic even more special for us is its competent but chummy kids dentist, Dr Jessica Khong.

Dr Jessica Khong has a Master’s Degree in Paediatric Dentistry and a background in public health care, so as far as qualifications go, we believe you’ll find her above satisfactory.

Furthermore, we heard from the parents of the children she treated that the kids loved her! That’s important because we know children can be hard to manage during medical exams.

Although this doesn’t come as a big surprise — Dr Jessica Khong is a mother herself, so she has firsthand experience with children.

But it’s not just her that sets the family-friendly atmosphere at Royce Dental Surgery. The receptionists also leave a good impression on kid patients.

Additionally, Royce Orthodontic & Paediatric Dental Centre offers treatment programs for different dental conditions, from minor infections to tongue ties. It can also help in the management of dental injuries.

This dental clinic is also Baby Bonus-approved, so parents would have an easier time paying for its services.

However, unlike other Royce dental clinics, the Orthodontic & Paediatric Centre is only open from Monday to Saturday. The area is also prone to heavy traffic, so we suggest avoiding visiting during rush hours.

Nevertheless, we trust Royce Dental Surgery to handle your kids and their health well. Even if your child has special needs, you can take them to Dr Jessica Khong — she’ll attend to them with no judgment, only love

3. Q & M Dental Group (Dr. Bardun Nafis)

  • Specialises in preventive and restorative treatment
  • Specialises in special needs and medically compromised children
  • Comfortable and anxiety-reducing environment for children
  • Open daily
  • Has clinics near MRT stations

  • Steep prices

Q & M Dental Group is the largest private dental healthcare group in Singapore, with a staggering staff body of nearly 300 dentists. That’s an impressive number, but it can also be quite overwhelming.

But the good news is that Q & M has a division dedicated to growing kids!

One of Q & M’s largest clinic branches across Singapore, located in City Square Mall, houses its notable kids’ dentist, Dr. Badrun Nafis.

We found Dr Badrun Nafis unique because his postgraduate work experiences landed him in a renowned child hospital in Australia, where he attended to medically compromised children and children with special needs.

On top of that, Dr. Badrun Nafis is a father to five kids himself. So you can rest assured that no matter how anxious your child is, he can manage them without being intimidating.

He’s also well-versed in anaesthesia management and inhalation sedation in children. We noted several comments that he always ensures his pediatric patients are comfortable throughout the process.

Q & M Kids specialises in preventive treatments to ensure that decay wouldn’t develop in your child’s teeth. It also has restoration treatments for children who had cavities or just had their braces removed.

Another thing that makes Q & M Kids ideal for us is that its services are available all week.

Meanwhile, if visiting City Square Mall is inconvenient for you, don’t fret! Q & M Kids still has two other clinics near Novena and Simei MRT Stations.

If we had to point out a drawback about this clinic, it’s that, as a private clinic, its rates are a little steep. But on the bright side, it’s Baby Bonus-accredited as well, and you can use the funds in your child’s account to pay for their siblings’ procedures too.

4. Nuffield Dental (Dr. Ireen Ali)

  • Huge team of dentists qualified for childcare
  • Offers one-stop services for families
  • Patient and thorough dentist for children
  • Open daily
  • Offers a no-obligation virtual consultation

  • Only select clinic branches are Baby Bonus-approved
  • Only select clinic branches have a Children’s Waiting Area
  • Has no clear schedule of dentists’ hours
  • Can improve communication between staff and patients

As a one-stop dental care centre, Nuffield Dental has an impressive team of dentists covering everything from A to Z. In fact, all of its dentists are qualified to provide paediatric care!

However, only a few of its branch clinics are Baby Bonus-accredited — and not all have designated Waiting Areas for children.

If your child is the type who needs to interact with their environment to be on their best behaviour, we suggest visiting the Serangoon Garden Clinic. It has a small area where children can play while waiting.

We consider one of the dentists there, Dr. Ireen Ali, one of the best paediatric dentists from Nuffield Dental.

She’s patient and detailed with kids. If there’s a bit you can’t explain to your kid because they’ll be scared, trust Dr. Ireen Ali to convey it to them in a child-friendly way!

What we like best about Nuffield Dental is that it lives up to its mission to bring one-stop services to its patients. It offers general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and even full-mouth rehabilitation.

And it’s not just limited to childcare, either. Nuffield Dental can attend to your kid and the rest of your family — including you!

Another great thing about it is that it’s open all days of the week, so you wouldn’t have to worry about crunching for an appointment over the weekends.

However, Nuffield Dental doesn’t provide a schedule of its dentists’ shifts, so we suggest inquiring about your preferred dentist’s hours before booking an appointment.

Or you can also opt for a virtual consultation. It offers a 15-minute-long, no-obligation so you can discuss the basics of the problem before deciding to schedule an appointment.

Furthermore, from what we’ve gathered from other patients, the biggest problem you’ll face with Nuffield Dental is the lack of clear communication, which could lead to hiked costs.

5. Smilefocus Dental Clinic (Dr. Stephanie Salanitri)

  • Provides global-oriented services
  • Acknowledges international insurance policies for direct billing
  • Offers family dentistry services
  • Kids’ dentist specialises in behaviour management

  • Inconsistent operating hours
  • Only has one branch

If you recently just moved to Singapore and are still learning the ropes of the everyday Singaporean lifestyle, even personal care can be challenging.

That’s why we recommend Smilefocus Dental Clinic to ease you into a dental routine and serve as a guide to how the Singaporean healthcare system works.

Founded by Australian dentist Dr. Bernard Siew, Smilefocus Dental Clinic aims to provide services that meet global standards and mirror the feeling of “home” for immigrants and tourists.

We like that he extends this homey feeling to his pediatric patients. Smilefocus Dental Clinic has a dedicated ‘Children Team’ consisting of two kids’ dentists who can give children a warm welcome.

If you have difficulty calming your nervous child down, we recommend Dr Stephanie Salanitri. We heard from other parents that her positive attitude could influence kids and make them smile!

One of her specialisations is behaviour management, so you can rest assured that your child is in careful hands with her.

Another thing we appreciate about Smilefocus Dental Clinic’s expat-oriented services is how it provides one-stop services. So if you take your child to its clinic, it can also cater to you under its family dentistry services.

We also have good news for international patients: Smilefocus Dental Clinic acknowledges global insurance policies for direct billing!

Overall, Smilefocus Dental Clinic is a good choice for residents and even better for international patients. However, its biggest drawback is its inconsistent operating hours.

This clinic is open six days a week, but its hours differ on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. It also only has one branch.
