How We Picked
We looked into each clinic’s years of experience and credentials to assess how well they can provide safe and effective cataract surgeries.
We checked reliable third-party reviews and interviewed past customers to examine if these clinics provided valuable services to each customer.
We are looking into how diverse each clinic’s cataract surgeries are to determine if they can manage the different needs and conditions of each client.
We reviewed each entry’s location, number of branches, as well as their operating hours. Clinics that are open longer throughout the week with additional branches around the island enable clients to get help ASAP.

The International Eye Cataract Retina Center is situated in the Farrer Park Medical, which is just next to the Farrer Park Station Exit A bus stop.
It also has a second branch in Mount Elizabeth Medical. This is excellent news for those who live around the Orchard district.
However, it is unavailable between 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on weekdays.
This clinic’s medical director and senior consultant, Dr. Joy Chan has more than 10 years of experience as an ophthalmologist. She is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Academy of Medicine of Singapore.
Dr. Chan is a known speaker and has delivered at both local and international conferences on a variety of topics relating to eye surgery.
That being said, she is a skilled cataract surgeon and has vast experience with a wide range of surgical procedures.
She is knowledgeable in high-tech methods like computer-assisted toric intraocular lens implantation and femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery.
The latter is an updated version of traditional techniques wherein ultra-precise laser technology is used to remove cataracts and insert artificial lenses to improve the patient’s vision.
The clients we interviewed found plenty of success with this treatment and also loved Dr. Joy’s welcoming attitude and professional tone. During pre-surgery talks, she puts individuals at ease by walking them through the procedure.
The only downside we gathered is that this type of procedure is quite expensive. If budget is a concern, you can try your luck by checking the other entries on this list.
2. Jerry Tan Eye Surgery
Services: Cataract surgery, general consultation, glaucoma assessment, squint surgery, LASIK, and more
Address: 1 Scotts Rd, #21-03 Shaw Center, Singapore
Contact Details: +65 6738 8122
Monday – Friday: 9 am – 5 pm
Saturday: 9 am – 1 pm
|Google Reviews Score||4.7/5|
Jerry Tan Eye Surgery is found in the Shaw Center, which is just a 2-minute stroll from the Royal Plaza On Scotts bus stop.
It does not have a second branch around the island, which may be bad news for those who live outside the Central district. However, it has consistent weekly operating hours from 9 am to 5 pm.
This clinic is led by Dr. Jerry Tan, a famous ophthalmologist and eye surgeon who has been in the industry since 1996.
He is the first person in Singapore to perform a LASIK surgery and is highly skilled in this procedure.
He also has extensive expertise in cataract surgery, corneal collagen crosslinking, corneal transplantation, all forms of laser treatment to the cornea, phakic intraocular lens implants, and comprehensive ophthalmology.
Jerry Tan Eye Surgery recommends the Phacoemulsification procedure for those who wish to remove their cataracts. This procedure is also known as “small incision cataract surgery.”
As the name suggests, it creates a micro-incision, about 2.5mm, and inserts a tiny probe. Then it emits ultrasound waves that soften and break apart the eye lens so it can be removed through suction.
When we talked to previous clients, they liked that this procedure is less invasive compared to other cataract operations. Furthermore, it is relatively more affordable as well!
Dr. Jerry is mentioned to be highly knowledgeable and provides consistent quality from preoperative to postoperative screening.
The only negative comment we gathered is that the wait time is quite long. Some claimed to have waited for over an hour for a consultation.
This is probably because this clinic has a considerably smaller team compared to other establishments.
3. Atlas Eye Specialist Center
Services: Cataract surgery, general consultation, children’s eye health, LASIK, contact lens, and more
Address: 290 Orchard Road, Medical, #07-09 Paragon, Singapore
Contact Details: +65 6737 9119
Monday – Friday: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
Saturday: 8:30 am – 12 pm

|Facebook Reviews Score||5/5|
The Atlas Eye Specialist Center is located inside the Paragon Shopping Center. It is a 6-minute walk from the Opp Mandarin Orchard bus stop.
It’s open with standard operating hours from Monday to Saturday and has a second branch in the Royal Square Medical Center, making it an ideal destination for those who live around the Novena area.
This clinic has a comparatively larger team than our other entries here and it is led by Dr. David Chan, who has more than 10 years of experience.
He specializes in complex cataract surgery, anterior segment, and refractive operations. His treatments include high-risk cataract abscission, lens replacement or exchange, to mention a few.
Dr. Chan has trained a large number of eye doctors in Singapore as a clinical tutor at the National University of Singapore and as a course coordinator and surgical instructor for surgical training courses at the Singapore National Eye Center.
Atlas Eye offers laser-assisted cataract surgery, a minimally invasive treatment. It is able to do this by using the laser to automate some of the more difficult phases of the procedure.
This creates a more reliable and precise incision than a doctor can do by hand. Even a highly experienced surgeon can’t make a perfectly circular opening as precisely as a laser can.
We highly recommend this clinic for anyone having second thoughts about having an invasive eye procedure. The minimally invasive cataract operation may put your worries at ease.
However, these treatments are a bit more expensive due to the nature of the types of equipment used. Be that as it may, it’s a safe procedure that most people can benefit from.
4. Asia Retina
Services: Cataract surgery, general consultation, prescription eye drops, myopia degeneration, macular hole, and more
Address: #15-10 The Paragon, 290 Orchard Rd, Singapore
Contact Details: +65 6732 0007
Monday – Friday: 9 am – 5 pm
Saturday: 9 am – 12 pm
|Google Reviews Score||4.8/5|
Asia Retina is found in the Paragon Shopping Center, which is a 6-minute walk from the Opp Mandarin Orchard bus stop. Sadly, it does not have a second branch open, which may be a problem for those who live outside the Central region.
Furthermore, it closes very early on Saturdays. If you prefer weekend appointments, you can find better luck by checking out the other entries on this list.
Dr. Claudine Pang is Asia Retina’s head ophthalmologist who has more than 15 years of experience and has performed countless cataract and retinal surgeries, making her one of the most experienced cataract surgeons in Singapore.
Furthermore, the clinic has a relatively large team even though it’s a smaller facility. It has 5 other in-house optometrists.
For cataract surgeries, it has a combination of services that pair well with this operation.
You can pair these if you have the following conditions: glaucoma, pathological floaters, or epiretinal membrane.
Dr. Claudine uses the Toric IOL, a method that first involves the surgeon implanting the lens into the eye, then carefully rotating the lens in place until the desired orientation is achieved.
This is ideal for those who are also suffering from astigmatism, hitting two birds with one stone.
The clients we talked to spoke highly about Dr. Claudine. Her warm and genuine attitude toward individuals puts them at ease, which is a big positive since eye surgeries usually sound daunting.
However, there are also some who mentioned that the clinic has a tendency to up-sell some of its services, which rubs patients the wrong way.
5. LSC Eye Clinic
Services: Cataract surgery, general consultation, LASIK, eye screenings, contact lens, and more
Address: 290 Orchard Road, #16-01/02 Paragon Medical Tower 1 via Lift Lobby F, Singapore
Contact Details: +65 6836 1000
Monday – Friday: 9 am – 6 pm
Saturday: 9 am – 4 pm
|Google Reviews Score||4.6/5|
The LSC Eye Clinic is located inside the Paragon Shopping Center. It is a 6-minute walk from the Opp Mandarin Orchard bus stop.
It is open extensively longer than other clinics on this list from Monday to Saturday. However, it only has one branch open, which may be a problem for those living outside the Central region.
This clinic is led by two highly experienced cataract surgeons and general ophthalmologists, Dr. Errol Chan and Dr. Marc Tay.
Dr. Errol has international experience in managing patients with eye diseases, having practiced at some of the most prestigious eye centers in the world. He is also fluent in English and Mandarin.
Dr. Marc has been practicing for more than 25 years.
He is also one of the few eye surgeons in Singapore who has extensive experience in bladeless and flapless laser vision modification procedures known as Refractive Lenticule Extraction and Small Incision Lenticule Extraction.
LSC Eye Clinic uses Phacoemulsification for cataract surgery, a procedure that only creates tiny incisions to insert a probe that emits ultrasound waves.
The sound waves then loosen up cataracts and break them down to easily remove them by way of suction techniques.
The clients we interviewed like this treatment as it’s quite fast compared to other kinds of surgical methods. Moreover, it only takes around 30 to 35 minutes in total.
They also appreciated Dr. Mark and his team for reassessing the safety and what to expect during the procedure. We highly recommend this clinic for beginners or those who are hesitant to get eye surgery.
However, we gathered some complaints, particularly about how the clinic rescheduled appointments rather late. Some only received an email a day or two prior to the reserved day, which caused a lot of frustration.
