The Bone and Joint Center is situated inside the Mount Elizabeth Hospital, which is a 5-minute walk from the Orchard Station bus stop. It has regular business hours, however, it does not have other branches on the island.

If you don’t live in the Central region, then you might have problems going here because of the heavy traffic in the area.

This clinic is helmed by Dr. Kevin Koo Oon Thien, with over 15 years of experience and special training in musculoskeletal injuries, particularly the lower extremities of the human body.

With that said, if you are dealing with knee, foot, or ankle injuries, we highly recommend seeking Dr. Kevin!

The Bone and Joint Center has 4 options for knee replacement treatment. We’ll talk about them so that you have an idea of which one is the best one for your current predicament.

Total knee replacement surgery is when the joint is completely removed and replaced by artificial support. This is for those who are dealing with severe arthritis.

Partial treatment involves changing only one component of the knee with a prosthesis. This is recommended for individuals with mild arthritis.

Patellofemoral arthroplasty is a bit more conservative as it only focuses on the degradation confined usually in the kneecap.

Complex revision is specifically for those who are still experiencing ailments after having already gone through a knee replacement. It is essentially re-operating to change the previous prosthesis.

Whichever treatment you require, we believe Dr. Kevin can provide you with the best treatment. His notable practice has been acknowledged and rewarded by different medical bodies both in and out of the country.

Because of this, patients are guaranteed to receive expert assistance. In fact, the individuals that we talked to had great things to say.

Dr. Kevin is noted to be very approachable and helps clients deal with their ailments with a positive attitude, which makes the endeavor more comfortable.

If you have worries about your knee problems or going under the knife, then we highly suggest considering The Bone and Joint Center! The only downside we gathered is that the team is considerably smaller than our other entries.

This makes booking a bit haphazard depending on the season or how many people are already in their care.

Pros

  • 5-minute walk from the Orchard Station bus stop
  • 15 years of experience
  • Specializes in musculoskeletal injuries
  • Has 4 types of knee replacement treatments
  • Doctor is recognized locally and internationally
  • Excellent customer service
  • Ideal for those who are nervous about knee surgery

  • Heavy traffic in the area
  • Small team

Ardmore Orthopedic Clinic is found inside Mount Elizabeth Medical Center. It is just a 5-minute walk from the Lucky Plaza bus stop.

The clinic has regular operating hours from Monday to Saturday. However, it is unavailable between 1 pm to 2 pm on weekends.

On the bright side, Ardmore Orthopedic Clinic is available in 2 other locations, namely in Farrer Park and Royal Square. This enables interested individuals to head to the nearest medical facility without needlessly traveling far.

Another thing worth highlighting about this clinic is the comprehensive care patients get from the beginning of their screening to the last steps of their recovery phase.

While this medical establishment specializes in trauma and general orthopedic surgery, its two main specialists have their own respective areas of knowledge.

Dr. Sean Ng was a former member of the Medical Board of Singapore General Hospital. He specializes in foot and leg injuries.

Dr. Chong Xue Ling is an expert on shoulder and arm surgeries.

Ardmore Orthopedic has 3 options for knee replacement operations.

Like most clinics, it has partial and total knee replacement. However, it also offers arthroscopy surgery, which is pretty unique.

It uses a fiber-optic camera and other tools inserted through small incisions. Then the surgeon will repair the damaged cartilage and reconstruct all the torn ligaments.

This minor surgery is ideal for those who have mild joint issues. The recovery time is also quicker, around 6 weeks.

However, as a private clinic, the cost is relatively more expensive. Nevertheless, many clients we talked to praised the clinic’s sustainable and relatively conservative treatments.

Pros

  • Just a 5-minute walk from the Lucky Plaza bus stop
  • Available in 2 other locations
  • Has two resident specialists
  • Comprehensive patient care
  • 3 options for knee replacement operations
  • Quicker recovery time for arthroscopy surgery

Cons

  • Expensive rates
  • Unavailable between 1 pm to 2 pm on weekdays

The International Orthopedic Clinic is found in Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and is a 5-minute walk from the Bef Novena Station Exit B bus stop.

It has consistent operating hours from Monday to Saturday. However, it is only available in one location.

If you live outside the Novena area, you might have problems reaching this clinic due to the heavy traffic on Thompson Road.

Today, The International Orthopedic Clinic is one of the leading orthopedic clinics on the island. However, it only has one in-house orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Alan Cheung.

Dr. Alan is an athlete. Therefore, he’s familiar with most sports-related injuries and can provide individuals with a prompt assessment.

If you are an athlete or a sports enthusiast, he can recognize your sport’s unique demands. Hence, he personalizes recovery programs that are most applicable to your needs.

Furthermore, Dr. Alan uses robotic-assisted technology for knee surgeries and ensures a more precise result.

However, this clinic only has 1 kind of knee replacement treatment. This means you might not have the options that other establishments offer.

If you prefer a more customized experience, we suggest checking our other entries on this list.

Be that as it may, if you are an athlete or someone who prefers better accuracy with your procedure, then International Orthopedic may be your best option.

Moreover, its customer support is well received by the individuals we interviewed. They found its team to be friendly and accommodating.

Take note that as a private clinic, its fees are quite expensive.

Pros

  • 5-minute walk from the Bef Novena Station Exit B bus stop
  • One of the leading orthopedic clinics on the island.
  • Sports-centric
  • Has robotic-assisted technology for surgeries
  • Ideal for athletes or sports enthusiasts
  • Good customer service
  • Accurate knee replacement treatment

Cons

  • Traffic-prone area
  • Expensive rates
  • Has only 1 in-house orthopedic surgeon
  • Knee replacement options are not as diverse as other clinics

The Specialist Orthopaedic Centre is located inside the Mount Elizabeth’s Novena Hospital, which is a 6-minute stroll from the Novena Station.

It has standard business hours from Monday to Saturday and has a second branch in Parkway East.

This clinic is led by Dr. Kannan Kaliyaperumal, the founder of the Orthopedic Department’s Foot and Ankle Division at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

His credentials prove that his expertise in leg and foot conditions is unparalleled!

Furthermore, Dr. Kannan’s services aren’t just limited to adults but also children for pediatric treatment and even surgery.

However, the clinic’s knee replacement treatment is not as diverse as its competitors. You might find it hard to find a specific program that fits your needs.

If you require partial surgery or other specialized operations, we suggest seeing our other entries on this list.

Nonetheless, due to Dr. Kannan’s expertise, we still found his total knee replacement treatment to be outstanding, particularly in efficacy.

The clients we talked to had quite a successful operation and had a better time with recovery, which is usually another huge hurdle when going through knee surgery.

The only downside we gathered from past customers is the high rates of this clinic’s services. However, unlike some establishments, the Specialist Orthopedic Center  accepts various health insurance partners.

This buffers the expensive rates usually associated with knee surgery.

Pros

  • 6-minute walk from the Novena Station
  • Has a second branch in Parkway East
  • Doctor has impressive credentials
  • Expert in foot and leg injuries
  • Offers pediatrics services
  • Has health insurance partners to make services cheaper
  • High efficacy knee replacement
  • Better in managing postoperative recovery

Cons

  • Does not have diverse knee replacement program
  • Relatively expensive rates

Singapore Sports and Orthopedic Clinic is located in Gleneagles Hospital. It is just beside the S’pore Botanic Gardens bus stop.

It has standard operating hours. However, it does not have other branches around the island.

This clinic has a large team and is staffed with six globally-experienced orthopedic specialists. Its broad team of specialists is what we consider to be its best asset.

Even though it only has 2 options for knee replacement treatment, it has the most comprehensive care from beginning to end.

The clients we interviewed mentioned that their level of care is unparalleled. From preoperative assessments to postoperative care, down to nutrition to improve recovery.

However, patients were disappointed that it doesn’t offer discounted packages, which other clinics provide. Since Singapore Sports’ rates aren’t cheap, some individuals may be discouraged.

Furthermore, its consultation fees are haphazard and depend on your chosen specialist.

Nevertheless, the level of assessment and screening you receive in this clinic is top-notch, especially if you need to run a couple of laboratory tests after your consultation.

Singapore Sports’ labs and testing rooms are in-house, which would save you plenty of time going back and forth.

The downside we gathered from past clients is that since the clinic accommodates plenty of patients, the staff lacks warmth when engaging with individuals.

We understand that they are busy; however, the attitude may not positively contribute to the atmosphere of the place, and those recovering might feel left out or frustrated.

Pros

  • Just beside the S’pore Botanic Gardens bus stop
  • Large team of globally-experienced orthopedic specialists
  • Exceptional pre and postoperative care
  • Thorough screening and assessments
  • One-stop laboratory services
  • Can accommodate plenty of patients

Cons

  • Does not have a second branch
  • Expensive rates
  • Does not have discount packages
  • Staff is overworked and can be dismissive
