Ho Kok Sun Colorectal: Piles & Colon Surgeon is situated inside Mount Elizabeth Hospital, which is a 5-minute stroll from the Lucky Plaza bus stop.
It is open from Monday to Saturday but is unavailable between 1 pm – 2 pm on weekdays.
The clinic does not have other branches available, which is bad news for those outside the Central region because of the congested streets on Orchard Road.
Dr. Ho Kok Sun is a certified colorectal and general surgeon with more than 20 years of field experience.
Moreover, he has worked in other countries such as the United States of America and Scotland. The latter is where he is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons.
The clinic offers services for colorectal cancer, hernia, anal warts, hemorrhoids, diverticular disease, and endoscopy, among many other things.
His extensive background makes him an ideal candidate for anyone seeking serious colon procedures or surgery.
For colon cancer procedures, the clinic has 2 options, either open surgery or minimally invasive procedures like laparoscopic, single incision port, and robotic.
The patients we interviewed mentioned that, unlike other physicians, Dr. Ho strongly advises against unnecessary surgery. Instead, he suggested a colonoscopy to double-check and then provided the necessary procedures moving forward.
Furthermore, individuals said that the appointments were very informative and that Dr. Ho and his staff were very kind in answering their concerns.
Many of the people we talked to are long-time clients — even the parents or grandparents of these individuals are under the care of Dr. Ho!
Needless to say, Ho Kok Sun Colorectal is highly recommended for individuals looking for a good colon doctor to care for the entire family.
However, the clinic’s team is small compared to other entries on this list. It may have problems accommodating plenty of patients on a day-to-day basis.

Seow-Choen Colorectal Center can be found in Paragon Shopping Center, which is a 3-minute walk from the Opp Mandarin Orchard bus stop. It is open from Monday to Saturday with consistent operating hours on weekdays.
However, this clinic does not have other branches available. Individuals that live outside the Central district may find it challenging to go here because of the heavy traffic in the area.
The clinic is led by Dr. Francis Seow Choen, a well-renowned colon surgeon with more than 30 years of experience. He travels around the world to lecture and provide operational services to better hone his craft.
His achievements can be seen in his works on the editorial boards of many prestigious journals like the Diseases of the Colon and Rectum, and the Indian Journal of Coloproctology, to mention a few.
He has also published 39 chapters in surgical books and more than 261 original articles in peer-reviewed surgical bulletins. With that said, he has the most credentials and field experience on this list!
The clinic offers services for colon and rectal cancers with procedures like colonoscopy, gastroscopy, laparoscopic, and robotic colorectal surgery.
The clinic’s extensive screening process includes stool testing for blood and barium enema. Dr. Francis recommends having a test on a yearly basis to immediately work on issues before they get too serious.
When we spoke to his former clients, they always mentioned that Dr. Francis is a down-to-earth person who takes his time to answer each question.
He also is very good at explaining complicated procedures to make individuals more at ease with what to expect.
We heard plenty of success stories. For instance, a client who was suffering from hemorrhoids and constant occurrences of seeing blood on his stool felt hopeless until he discovered Dr. Francis.
He detected the issue that could have developed into colorectal cancer if left unchecked. Luckily, it was handled on time, which made the patient feel very fortunate.
We highly recommend seeing Dr. Francis for anyone having very serious colon complications because we believe he is the right man for the job.
The only downside is the limited manpower. Even though the clinic is led by an amazing doctor, he can only accommodate a number of people in a single day.

He is experienced in laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgeries. He uses these techniques for thyroid operations, and other general procedures for hernia, gallbladder, adrenal, and spleen conditions.
Off the bat, this clinic gets a high score for its services because it offers the most diverse list of surgical procedures.
The clients we spoke to liked Dr. Thomas’ calm and professional attitude during consultations. He has a knack for communicating medical procedures by simplifying concepts to make them more understandable.
Patients also appreciate the friendly staff that was prompt in booking appointments and answering inquiries.
However, the clinic is a bit undermanned and individuals usually need to book in advance due to the long queue.
The wait is a hit-or-miss, but if it’s too long for you, we recommend seeing our other entries on this list. Nevertheless, Thomas Ho Surgery is an ideal destination for anyone seeking surgical procedures.

One Surgical Clinic & Surgery can be located inside Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Center but it also has branches in Parkway East, Orchard, and Mount Alvernia.
However, the location we went to is quite far. It is a 12-minute walk from the nearest bus stop at Opp Mandarin Orchard.
This clinic is led by Dr. Ng Chee Yung, who has 20 years of clinical practice and 10 years of experience as a specialist colorectal surgeon. He is also the current president of the Society of Colorectal Surgeons in Singapore.
His specialty lies in advanced techniques such as robotic surgery, lymph node clearance, transanal endoscopic operations, and colonic stenting.
We recommend this medical establishment for those who prefer special operations that use robotics. This procedure is ideal for anyone who has cancer in the rectum, prostate, or colon.
The benefit of this advanced procedure is that it produces a 3D perspective a doctor can use to better identify the targeted areas, which allows for a more precise dissection during surgery.
However, the rates of these services are quite expensive. If budget is a priority, we suggest looking into other entries on this list.
On the bright side, the patients we talked to commented on Dr. Ng’s professional yet kind approach. He is also very knowledgeable and takes his time to explain the necessary details of each procedure to his clients.
This small detail helps individuals feel more comfortable with the treatment they’ll be needing to go through.
Another thing they mentioned is Dr. Ng’s ability to recognize situations and assess their severity immediately.
For instance, a patient who required a colon operation because of a blockage was swiftly attended to. After the issue was detected, the doctor took the closest time available for the client to get the operation as soon as possible.

- 10 years of surgical experience
- Specializes in robotic surgery
- Has plenty of surgical treatments
- Excellent communicator
- Explains all the necessary details on procedures
- Can swiftly detect issues
- Performs operations as soon as possible
Cons
- 12-minute walk from the nearest bus stop at Opp Mandarin Orchard
- Robotic operations are expensive
