5 Best Art Classes for Kids in Singapore That’ll Let Their Imaginations Run Wild

Programme Variety: We gave extra points to providers offering a mix of weekly classes, holiday workshops, and themed programmes. Schools that include exposure to different art styles and mediums stood out. Curriculum & Structure: We considered schools with well-structured curricula that build age-appropriate skills in drawing, painting, mixed media, and creative thinking. Instructor Qualifications: We prioritised programmes led by experienced instructors with a background in fine arts or early childhood education. Providers with teachers skilled in guiding children at different developmental stages scored higher. Student Engagement: We favoured schools that encourage participation, give constructive feedback, and foster a positive, confidence-building environment.

Back when I used to babysit my little cousin, things started out pretty cute. She was fun, energetic, and we got along great—until we didn’t.

After a while, the novelty wore off, and she clearly started getting bored with me (understandable, honestly).

I tried keeping things interesting by rotating hobbies—music, sports, baking—but the one thing that really stuck was art. Give her a blank page and some colours, and suddenly she was in her zone.

As time passed, her creativity grew. She went from scribbles to sculptures, painting abstract blobs to drawing her own storybooks.

Her parents started noticing too, and figured she could probably use a bit more structure—maybe even learn from someone who wasn’t her older cousin. So, they asked me to find the best art classes for kids in Singapore.

Which brings us here. You’re welcome, Auntie.

ArtzGraine Art Studio might be small, but it’s packed with heart. I dropped by their space and immediately noticed how much natural light pours in, which I find perfect for an art class.

The environment was calm and focused, with kids quietly working on their projects—some painting, others shaping clay.

The instructors, all AMIS-certified, are able to guide kids through age-based programmes like Flint Corn and Rye, with activities (e.g., digital animation, drawing, 3D art) that build both technique and creativity.

For older kids preparing for Direct School Admission (DSA) into SOTA (School of the Arts) or AEP (Art Elective Programme), there are even specialised portfolio prep classes too.

But I have to let you know that the space itself is on the smaller side, so it can feel a little tight during peak hours.

Pros

  • Calm and focused environment
  • Various activities
  • Teachers are AMIS-certified
  • Offers age-based programmes
  • Provides specialised portfolio prep classes

Cons

  • Small space

The children do their own ideation, planning, sketching, and actual work with guidance from the teacher artists.

The children do their own ideation, planning, sketching, and actual work with guidance from the teacher artists, so the final artwork is truly the students’ own work. Teachers are accommodating to changing schedules, too. 100% recommended!”

Their expertise in guiding her and brainstorming on ideas helps my child leaps and bounds.

Despite a short time with the centre, my kid connected well with the teachers. They are very dedicated and know what to do to help her to prep for portfolio prep for SOTA. It was a super crash course as there was only 1 month left to submission. But their expertise in guiding her and brainstorming on ideas help my child leaps and bounds in securing the coveted spot in SOTA. Thank you so much.

PeiPer Arts School was founded by a husband-and-wife duo to nurture creativity and bilingualism in young kids through art. Pei Li, a renowned paper artist, leads the classes herself, alongside educators trained in Fine Arts and Visual Communication.

I had the chance to watch as kids listened intently to a Mandarin story before diving into their craftwork. One parent even shared that her son, who once struggled with Chinese, now chats comfortably with his teachers in Mandarin.

After the story, kids don’t just draw—they sculpt, build, and imagine in 3D using recycled materials. Each class mixes artist references and hands-on crafting to improve their creativity!

Parents also love how personalised the classes are. Teachers offer feedback, celebrate progress, and even suggest exhibits to match each child’s interests.

The only catch would be that slots fill up quickly, so you might have to wait a bit before snagging a regular spot.

Pros

  • Led by renowned paper artist Pei Li and trained educators
  • Integrates Mandarin storytelling
  • Encourages 3D craftwork using recycled materials
  • Personalised feedback and guidance

Cons

  • May need to wait for a regular spot

The teachers are very friendly and very patient when handling these young kids.

My 3 kids love this art school! Very engaging, very creative. They always come out with new artsy stuff to do every month, unlike other art classes I’ve sent my kids to, which kept doing the same repeated stuff. The teachers are very friendly and very patient when handling these young kids & my kids are always very excited to go to their art class at Pei Per!  👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 highly recommended!!!

I can see the teachers working hard to guide the kids.

I wanted to encourage my son’s creativity and exposure to art. He really enjoyed the classes so much. A lot of love and attention go into the classes, too. I can see the teachers working hard to guide the kids. My son is always really proud to show me his masterpieces.

Art Out of Black takes a more structured approach to art education, focusing on building technique and artistic understanding through carefully designed programmes.

Founded by mixed media artist Ruby Jean Saul and inspired by Monika Lin’s teaching philosophy, the school focuses on seeing the world differently through art.

The classes here are paced to help kids grasp both the basics and more advanced methods, without making it feel overwhelming.

This means the programmes are structured by level (beginner to advanced), and they also host specialty workshops like mosaic, resin, life drawing, and batik. Parents I chatted with praised the variety of techniques explored each week, too.

Sessions are led by Anusha, where even the youngest students are fully immersed from start to finish. Based on the children’s concentration and excitement, I saw just how engaging the lessons were!

Just note: some advanced workshops are held infrequently, so watch for updates.

Pros

  • Programmes are paced to avoid overwhelming kids
  • Levels from beginner to advanced
  • Specialty workshops
  • Various art techniques

Cons

  • Advanced workshops are held infrequently

They have learned about techniques and types of products used to create various effects.

My twin 6-year-olds look forward to their weekly art sessions with Anusha. It’s amazing how much they have learned about techniques and types of products used to create various effects. The 2 hours fly by without a mention about tiredness or boredom, which says a lot for them being totally interested and engaged. It’s a great place for kids who are interested in art.

Art Wonderland isn’t limited to just drawing or painting. Their studio sessions encourage creative thinking through storytelling, hands-on exploration, and exposure to different art techniques.

Since 2014, they’ve also collaborated with institutions like the National Gallery and Singapore Art Museum, bringing that same depth to their regular classes.

Classes are facilitated by teachers with backgrounds in Design and Visual Communications, as well as Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management.

During the classes, these educators teach the kids through themed projects using mixed media. One parent shared that her son, once reserved, now sketches confidently at home and experiments with techniques he’s picked up in class.

Lessons cover a wide mix of materials—acrylics, clay, textiles, watercolours—and even include museum visits and digital art storytelling.

If there’s a downside, it’s that a few parents find the sessions a bit short.

Pros

  • Uses mixed media techniques
  • Collaborates with popular institutions
  • Teachers have a proper background in art
  • Parents observed increased confidence and experimentation at home

Cons

  • Short sessions

The curriculum is very interesting as different mediums are used for each class.

My girl has been attending classes at Art Wonderland for more than a year. The curriculum is very interesting as different mediums are used for each class, like acrylic, water colours, chalk, ink, etc, and the works they have created are not just drawing or painting. They can create models, clay art, trinkets and many more. And teacher Lena is very knowledgeable and patient. Instead of just diving into an art piece, she will explain the theme, how to use the different materials to bring out the different effects, etc. I strongly recommend this art school.

It is engaging, creative, and the class allowed her to be exposed to a lot of art materials.

My daughter joined Art Wonderland in April 2023 and has never once refused to go for her art class. It is engaging, creative, and the class allowed her to be exposed to a lot of art materials that we can’t provide her at home. Teacher Grace is god sent and she is very patient with all the children. I’m glad I’ve found this school/class online. ❤️

Da Little Arts School makes art more fun and approachable—especially for preschoolers and primary-age kids.

Since opening in 2010, they’ve built an all-in-one creative space that brings together visual arts, performing arts, and communication under one roof.

Their thematic programmes focus on skill-building and creative play, from storytelling-based painting sessions to more advanced techniques like paper mâché.

On the other hand, the school’s regular tracks include Book Explorers and Master Artists—each designed to improve creativity and confidence through hands-on, process-based projects.

Each session encourages independence and curiosity, too. I heard from a father that his daughter has been experimenting with new techniques ever since joining their holiday programme.

These classes are run by upbeat instructors trained in Early Childhood Education, who ensure that the kids bring home functional art pieces they can enjoy long after class ends.

But because of their popularity, some programme slots fill up fast.

Pros

  • Various art techniques and workshops
  • Encourages independence and curiosity
  • Instructors are trained in Early Childhood Education
  • Projects often include functional art pieces for kids to keep

Cons

  • Limited slot availability

My son comes home with new art projects and stories about his day, filled with joy and pride in what he’s created.

My 5-year-old son has been attending for a while now, and it’s truly one of the few places where he feels completely at ease—so much so that he doesn’t even cry for me when I drop him off! As a somewhat super clingy boy, that speaks volumes about the lovely teachers and the environment. My son comes home with new art projects and stories about his day, filled with joy and pride in what he’s created. I truly hope he can continue here for a really long time.

They were able to engage my young child for the entire duration of the lessons to create an art piece that was uniquely his!

We signed up for their most recent June holiday art program, and my 3-year-old had such a wonderful time! He enjoyed himself so much over the 2 days, as evident in the personal photos sent to us after the class ended. His teachers were warm and friendly, and I was very appreciative that they were able to engage my young child for the entire duration of the lessons to create an art piece that was uniquely his! Looking forward to sending our child back for the upcoming school holiday programmes 🙂
