A perfect first-time pottery experience with Mabel & Nick

We were looking for a new experience and tried out the “Potter Do-It-All” workshop. The place was nice and comfortable and we were greeted by Mabel and Nick. They were friendly and a great help throughout the whole session and since it was a small group of us, all of us got a personal touch and guidance from them.

Mabel and Nick gave lots of ideas and how to use the tools when we need more help. All in all, it turned out to be a great experience and we highly recommend it to anyone looking to try something new.

11/10 Studio: From wheel throwing to mold making

Been going to TPG for the past few years for wheel throwing lessons and open studio. Everyone here, including fellow hobbyist, are very talented, supportive, and encouraging. Great environment to learn and grow, and I always look forward to my time there.

Recently attended a mold making class; it was a totally new experience from wheel throwing. You’ll get to design your own prototype and learn how to make a reusable mold for slip casting, but beware there’s math involved (oh noes!😂)

Overall experience at TPG is 11/10. I love this place. You’ll love this place too.

Am I Addicted Pottery Studio runs the biggest pottery studio in Singapore, featuring a massive space designed perfectly for huge corporate events. We booked a quick one-hour wheel class here recently, and the sheer size of the facility blew us away.

You never feel cramped while working on your messy clay projects. It’s because students can take standard two-hour lessons or relax in their Clayful Cafe section for casual pottery painting.

They even let experienced folks rent open studio time to practice independently.

Just a heads up: remember to pick up your finished work quickly since they enforce a strict 30-day collection rule.

Time flies! A calming & beginner-friendly session with khas

Today i tried the wheel throwing and it was a needed experience! I really enjoyed it and the two hours just flew by way faster than I expected! Khas, our instructor, made the whole experience even better. She was really patient, helpful, and soft-spoken, which made it easy to feel comfortable even when I was struggling a bit. She explained things clearly and guided us well without making it feel overwhelming. Overall, it was a really enjoyable and calming session, and I’d definitely love to do it again!!

Perfectly imperfect: A meaningful first time at the wheel

Visited Am I Addicted Pottery for a Standard Wheel Throwing class over the weekend, and it was a really fun experience.

It was my first time trying pottery, but the teacher was very patient and explained everything clearly from start to finish. Even as a complete beginner, I felt comfortable throughout the class. It was also nice to see other students’作品 and get inspired by their creativity.

I made a small vase and a bowl, and although they were not perfect, it felt very meaningful to create them by hand.

Founders Kenneth and Huiwen run Studio Asobi from their private home studio, creating a relaxed living-room atmosphere. You feel like a welcomed guest rather than just another paying customer.

Regular students get access to an interactive Google Sheets portal to track their skill progress. They even run a unique spiritual retreat session that uses clay work to encourage mental rest.

Our good friend tried their single-session workshop and loved how they served complimentary snacks.

However, their home-based setup creates a few minor drawbacks for eager students. They maintain an irregular firing schedule, running the kiln only when they gather enough vessels.

You’ll also pay the full class fee if you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours of notice.

Free-spirited hand building with fantastic guidance

enjoyed my sess at studio asobi. first time trying hand building and had much fun! wanted to make smth free-spirited and most places did not entertain but hw was responsive and advised accordingly. during the class, she taught pottery basics and its history and thereaft let us free play. once she saw what we were trying to build, she guided accordingly and was not at all restrictive. her class included a try at wheel throwing. i havent done wheel throwing for a while but she saw where i usually had a problem with and helped me correct it.

Beautiful glazing, patient teaching, and a bonus cat

Signed up for a hand pottery class and Huiwen is a very knowledgeable and patient teacher! She taught us the skills needed to form our own pieces, and guided us during the class, occasionally stepping in to help out when something goes a little bit wrong. Which I appreciated a lot because I wanted more hands on time with making my own.

The piece turned out beautifully, the glazing is so pretty, and the wait to get it back was less than 2 weeks. One of her cats graced the class with its presence 😸

Had a really enjoyable time at 3Arts for the wheel throwing session! Our instructors, Darren and Wesley, were patient and friendly, which made it easy even for beginners. We learned wedging, centering, opening, re-centering and pulling. It was so fun to work with the clay and see our creations take shape. The best part is that mistakes are welcome, so there’s no stress at all. Bonus: we even received a certificate at the end, such a nice keepsake! Urth&Phire Ceramics gives you a chance to learn from an award-winning artist, which adds massive value to any class. Founder Alvin Leow runs this studio, bringing over two decades of experience and a Fine Arts degree.

He purposefully keeps his class sizes tiny, so every student gets intense, hands-on guidance.

The studio space itself is a dream for makers, packing 15 potter’s wheels and over a hundred glazes. Experienced students can buy a handy monthly pass for unlimited independent practice time.

They also take bespoke commissions for lovely custom tableware and original art pieces.

That said, be very certain of your schedule before locking in a date. They enforce a heavy 50% penalty for cancellations made within 48 hours of your start time.

The “how” and “why” of pottery: A fantastic 6-week course

My husband and I attended the 6-week beginner class and had a really good time! Darren and Alvin are both great, attentive instructors and gave clear guidance. Each step is explained in detail, both in terms of what is to be done and why, and we found that this helped a lot in not just improving but also appreciating the pottery process in general. Patient instructors and a clean studio—bring on intermediate!

Just wrapped up the 6-lesson beginner ceramics throwing class with my friends, and it was such a great experience! Our instructor, Darren, was super patient and gave really clear instructions, which made a huge difference because throwing definitely isn’t easy.
