How to Get to Amber Beacon Tower
By Bus: Bus services 16, 36, 48, 966, and 401 all have stops along East Coast Parkway or Amber Gardens, which are within walking distance to Amber Beacon Tower. From the bus stop, it’s just a short stroll through East Coast Park to reach the tower.
By MRT: The nearest MRT stations are Tanjong Katong (TE25) on the Thomson-East Coast Line and Amber (TE26), both of which are currently under construction but expected to open soon.
Until then, the closest operational station is Dakota MRT (CC8) on the Circle Line, about a 10-minute drive or 20-minute walk from the park entrance.
By Taxi: Booking a ride via Grab, Gojek, or a regular taxi is a straightforward way to get there. You can set your drop-off point to “East Coast Park Carpark C1” for easy access to the tower, which is just a short walk from the lot.
By Private Car: Navigate to East Coast Park Carpark C1. It’s the closest car park to Amber Beacon Tower, with beach access and a direct path to the site. Parking is usually available, but it may get busy on weekends.

Exploring Amber Beacon Tower after dark isn’t your typical weekend plan—but for triple-seekers and paranormal fans, that’s exactly the appeal.
Known as one of Singapore’s most haunted spots, this is where a young couple was attacked in 1990, with the case still unsolved to this day.
Some say their spirits linger. Others claim to have seen figures on the staircase or heard strange whispers by the tower late at night.
Ghost hunters often swing by with EMF detectors and recording equipment, hoping to catch something on tape. Even without gadgets, just walking around the base of the tower when the wind picks up can give you chills.

Dog Run @ East Coast Park is a spot where dogs, birds, and humans all seem equally happy to hang out. Located in Parkland Green, it’s got plenty of space for pups to sprint, tumble, and socialize.
The rectangular layout runs alongside a walking path, and there’s even a gentle slope, perfect for a bit of uphill cardio for your furkid.
Personally, I think what makes this place even more special is the view. Most dog parks are fenced-in patches of grass, but here, you get the sea breeze and a backdrop of ocean blue.
There’s also a new bird perch right beside it, so feathered friends can tag along too.
The space stays relatively clean, and the crowd is definitely friendly. If you’re worried about other dogs, they’re known to be generally well-behaved, while most of the owners are very approachable.
You might also see that once playtime is over, many take a walk along the beach to wind down.

Right next to Amber Beacon Tower, Gypsy is a Japanese fusion spot that reels you in with their sea views and creative dishes.
I noticed that it’s got this Bali-resort feel with both indoor and outdoor seating, and even the floral centerpiece catches your attention the moment you walk in.
I’ve also heard that their regulars love ordering the Tuna Tacos in seaweed shells, Crispy Karaage, and a tangle of “Nest Fries,” which are drizzled with truffle and mustard sauces—definitely not your average sides.
But I do have to warn you: It gets filled up fast on weekends, especially with the East Coast cycling crowd popping in for coffee or a casual refuel.

St. Marc Baker & Bar is another Japanese fusion spot that incorporates French elements into its menu.
It’s part of the Saintmarc Holdings group from Japan, and since opening its Singapore branch in 2012, it has built quite a following.
I’d describe the place to be warm and very welcoming, with cushy seats, soft lighting, and wood-accented interiors. What I enjoyed even more, though, was that I got to see the cute dogs with their owners at the outdoor tables!
While most people come for dessert—especially their Japanese-French Ice Cream Bread and Mochi Waffles—many end up ordering savory dishes like the Wagyu Portobello Burger, which is a best-seller for the smoky, charred taste.
Other patrons even talk about how the pasta has different kinds of textures, just like how the Japanese Mochi Aasta is a customer favorite for its chewy bite!

While the building shows its age a bit, especially with its older-style air conditioning, many guests still say the comfort level, especially the mattress, makes up for it.
One parent even said the pool was their kid’s favorite part of the trip, and others appreciated the proximity to buses and the grocery store downstairs.

Beyond the budget-friendly perks, one guest shared with me that even when the rooms were fully booked, staff still welcomed them to rest in the common area—a thoughtful gesture that says a lot about the vibe here.
As for the rooms, the dorms are clean and come in various sizes, including a spacious 5-bed female dorm. The shared bathrooms are functional, if a bit tight in places, and the air conditioning at night is a big plus.
There’s also a large common area for socializing, drink sales, scooter rentals, and a simple breakfast of toast and jam!
