The 5 Best Math Tutors in Singapore That Turn Struggling Students Into Achievers
I smirked when my daughter told me mathematics was her least favourite subject—it was mine too. But beyond the amusing “like mother, like daughter” moment, I knew how crucial it was for her to master the fundamentals.
When children struggle to grasp basic math concepts, more advanced topics can quickly seem impossible to learn. That’s why I enrolled her with a tutor, and the transformation has been remarkable. Her test scores have steadily improved, and more importantly, her confidence grew.
My team and I put together this guide to the best math tutors in Singapore. Read on and find what fits for your child.

Apex Math Tuition’s founder, Alvin Au, is a double-degree graduate from the National University of Singapore. He has been tutoring batches after batches of students since 2008.
He specialises in teaching secondary-level mathematics, including IP, O-level, IB, GEP, N(A)-level, and N(T)-level. We discovered that instead of just focusing on a student’s present difficulties, he delves into their past struggles and identifies any gaps in understanding.
What makes his programmes enticing to parents is the free trial lessons. Several clients see this as a perfect opportunity to determine if his approach is the right fit before fully committing.
However, he runs his learning centre alone, so he accepts a limited number of pupils per class.
He can explain in such a precise and concise way that makes learning easy
“Alvin truly exemplifies what it means to be a teacher. He is able to explain concepts in such a precise and concise way that makes learning easy for anyone. Combining that with his caring and easy-going personality, his classes has motivated me to improve myself in my academics.”

Eipimath was founded by Luo Xingqun, a graduate of the Singapore Management University with first-class honours in economics and actuarial science.
He teaches various math levels, including secondary levels O-level and A Math, and pre-university levels IB and A-level. We think he’s the ideal tutor if you’re seeking flexible programmes for seamless transition from one level to another.
He caters to students with different learning preferences, offering both one-to-one and group classes. Even better, you have the option to choose between in-person or online learning sessions via Zoom.
Just note that his 1:1 rates are relatively expensive, according to some previous clients we spoke to.
He always makes complicated concepts much easier to understand
“Really thankful for the guidance that Mr Luo has provided me with during my A’ Levels. Under his guidance, he has helped to improve my grades tremendously from and S to an A. Highly recommend Mr Luo’s tuition for anyone who may be struggling with maths! He always manages to make complicated concepts much easier to understand. He is really patient and detailed in his explanations 👍🏻🤩”

Math Lobby’s founders, Nigel Yap and Vivienne Kai, boast nearly three decades of combined teaching experience. Despite launching only in 2023, they’ve delivered great results through their Singapore MOE-accredited syllabus.
Their teaching styles align with national standards, focusing on the concrete-pictorial-abstract approach for deep mastery. We discovered that this helps familiarise pupils with math exam formats.
When it comes to the actual service, they specialise in secondary math subjects, from sections one to four, G3 and G2 maths, to sections three to four A- and E-maths.
According to students, they teach exam strategies and problem-solving skills and provide commonly tested questions and concepts.
My daughter went from failing Maths to achieving a Grade 3 in her N-Level exams
“Vivienne has been a wonderful maths tutor for Kystina. She went from failing Maths to achieving a Grade 3 in her N-Level exams. This improvement is thanks to Vivienne’s patience, clear explanations, and engaging teaching methods. Kystina now enjoys Maths and looks forward to her tuition sessions. Highly recommended!”

Very patient, always willing to help, and the teaching is very clear for my son
“My son is not good in maths and failed the subject since start of sec 1. Glad we found Math Lobby before his end of year exam last year. Since then, Tutor Nigel has been coaching him. His maths is improving. Tutor Nigel is very patient, always willing to help and his teaching is very clear for my son to follow. My son was so happy to score A1 for his recent sec 2 WA1.”

Maythematics operates to deliver the clearest math explanations and bring out every student’s confidence. They do this through their unique SHINE approach, which stands for supportive environment, hone hard questions, individualised learning, nurturing results, and engaging methods.
We were impressed by the comprehensive level of programmes they offer, from primary and secondary to junior college maths. All lessons are available either in-person or online via Zoom.
Even better, they have over 10 math specialists with diverse expertise. If a student doesn’t grasp a concept from one tutor, another teacher can offer a different perspective or method that better suits their learning style.
However, some clients we spoke to reported that the classes fill up fast.

Math Academy was co-founded by professionals Ian Ang and Jolyn Ang in 2001. Ian is a first-class honours degree holder in pure mathematics, while Jolyn is a former MOE teacher. Together, they’ve served over 1,000 students since the centre’s founding.
They offer several math tutoring services, including JC H2, H1, sections three to four A maths, sections three to four E maths, and sections one to two G3 maths.
To ensure effectiveness, they’ve developed structured curricula that come with a complete set of notes and worksheets. The materials meticulously summarise commonly seen examination concepts.
That said, we find them less suitable for those seeking personalised attention.
On the flipside, students appreciate the centre for providing video recordings after every lesson, allowing them to study at their own pace.
The materials are very thorough, with multiple question types
“Was a student here from J1 till the end of my A Levels, and Mr.Ang has been an amazing teacher. His material is very thorough, with multiple question types and practice questions for each(many of which came out in the paper). He is also very patient and thorough when answering questions. The relatively smaller class size also facilitates easy questioning. Overall a very positive experience going to tuition here and am very happy!”

The teacher explains very well and breaks down the question into simpler steps
“The teacher explains very well and breaks down the question into simpler steps that I can understand even though I consider myself bad at mathematics,I managed to significantly improve my grade under the guidance of the teacher, but of course hard work is very impt and cannot just rely on teacher lah, highly recommend to anyone struggling with math”
