Cons

Joe’s Thai Kitchen is a humble little restaurant located in Bukit Merah Lane 1. It is family-owned and operated, with a dedicated team of chefs who are passionate about Thai cuisine.

Joe worked as a chef in Thailand for 6 years before moving to Singapore in 1999 to start his own restaurant with his wife.

His experience in Thailand taught him the fundamental principles behind cooking Thai food.

The service here is very impressive as well. The servers are prompt and the food is always served fresh in large portions.

The authentic ingredients and condiments used in the dishes create a richer and more authentic taste that gives diners a great experience that will surely leave them satisfied.

We also appreciate the healthy options available in Joe’s menu. The vegetarian option includes a bowl of Thai salad with garlic fried rice and vegetables.

The restaurant has a good number of seats and is very friendly and familiar to visitors, so it is perfect for lunch or a family-style dinner.

Unfortunately, it isn’t open daily and the restaurant is a bit loud during peak days.

Overall, this is a great value for diners who want to experience authentic Thai food.

  • Also does catering
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Restaurant’s lighting is too bland

Jai Thai is a Thai restaurant that was established in 1999. It’s located in Clover Way and is known for its prawn cake and mango salad.

We love how affordable and accessible Jai Thai is for a crowd of people living in Singapore. Despite being full of customers, it’s always clean and its services are always prompt.

The chefs and servers here are all extremely professional. They are highly trained and get their jobs done with a lot of care and attention.

We loved the basil chicken and the fried fish in tamarind sauce. Both dishes were served to us with vegetables included.

If you’re looking for healthy but satisfying food, Jai Thai is a great option.

Another highlight is its Thai milk tea. Its taste is sweet and delicious and at the same time, unique.

If you end up liking Jai Thai, another great thing about it is the fact that it does catering services.  If you have an event coming up, Thai food is a unique way to impress your guests.

The only issue we have with this establishment is its lighting. The lighting is too bland and doesn’t resemble a restaurant very much.

Overall, with its affordable menu items and impressive Thai cuisine options, we highly recommend Jai Thai.

Pros

  • Michelin rating
  • Authentic ingredients
  • Expert chefs
  • Healthy options
  • Travellers’ Choice Awardee

Cons

  • Closed on Monday
  • Expensive

If you’re looking for a gourmet Thai food experience, UnYang KorDai on South Bridge Road is a great option. The chefs here are passionate about their cuisine and the food is absolutely delicious.

What makes this establishment stand out is its Michelin rating. It’s a critically-acclaimed restaurant and it even won the Traveller’s Choice Award in 2020.

For the food, the restaurant specializes in Chud Kin Len Penlaos, Moo Lon Khao Tung, Peak Kai Tod, and more. All the dishes are made with high-quality and authentic ingredients.

The service here is also top-notch. The servers and the cooks are warm and welcoming, and the staff will gladly advise you on what dishes to order.

Our favorite dish here is the PenLaos signature chicken. It’s chicken marinated with white peppercorns and coriander for three days and then grilled with special herbs.

Unfortunately, the restaurant is closed on Mondays, so you can’t start your work week visiting the place. It’s also very expensive and is more of a restaurant that’s meant for special occasions.

Overall, UnYang KorDai is an excellent Thai restaurant. If you’re willing to spend a lot, its selection of Thai cuisine and Michelin rating can be worth the price.
