The fur parent we spoke to underwent a two-week homestay with their new pet. This trial ensured both the fur baby and the family could adjust comfortably.

“Wanted to adopt a kitten and was recommended ALL by a friend. But when I reached there, I was told there wasn’t any kittens but they had cats younger than 4 years old. The staff, Ashok?, explained to me that adoptions are through appointments. Initially he denied me entry but later allowed me to take a quick peek. Man was very kind and knowledgeable about cats. The cats were so beautiful and were snoring away. The cat place looked pretty clean for a shelter. For those adopting, remember to fix an appointment before you head down. ADOPT AND DON’T BUY.”

The Cat Museum & Academy is hands-down one of the best pet adoption shelters in Singapore. We love how their adoption process includes a thorough screening of each cat’s behavior and health. 

The kitties get the VIP (Very Important Pet) treatment—including regular vet visits, vaccinations, and a cozy environment packed with love and care. This means you’re adopting a feline friend who’s as happy as they are healthy!

But the shelter’s support doesn’t end once you take your new furball home. According to the pet parent we talked to, the shelter will provide you with a bunch of post-adoption perks.

You’ll get access to pet behaviorists for any quirks your cat may have, a hotline for quick advice about diet or health, and periodic follow-up calls to ensure things are going smoothly.

Now, here’s the deal—because of their high standards of care, the adoption fees might be a bit higher compared to other places.

“Lovely place! Therapeutic!! We saw this place online and immediately booked a slot to check the place out. If cats make u go awww, then a trip down would benefit u. If u Wana learn bout living with one, adopting one or even to chill the day away with good vibes, then this is one of the places to go to. Let’s dive in……

Atmosphere: There are 2 spaces to go to. One is where the adult cats are generally are.. d other is where the younger cats are. The place is full of cages and litter boxes, for where the cats will climb to do their business or sleep.

Location: The challenging part is parking. Get a grab or take public transport here. If u are near, jz walk everywhere

Variety: There a lot! And we do mean a lot of cats… Some are up for adoption while some are residents.. we loved cats from both sections since both sides have different charms. Definitely will come again to destress, to look for cat-love or when the family decides to get our own cats..Cheers!!”

In-depth rescue cat experience on Saturdays

“They only open to visitors on Saturdays and it costs 20 dollars per pax. The money goes into sustaining their cat shelter operations. Recommended to book before coming because they cannot have too many visitors. All their cats are rescue cats and they are all up for adoption. They provide lots of treats for you to feed the cats. Don’t worry about over feeding because they only have a few time slots where there are visitors. The staff taught us about the cats’ likes a dislikes and their personalities. Since the cats are all adopted, they all have wide ranging personalities and not all of them are friendly. Only a few of them liked to play with toys, some liked to be pat, while some like scratches. Some are actually quite aggressive but not to the point where they scratch. The staff took effort to separate and slowly domesticate very feral cats. If you like the cats feel free to adopt them and give them a new home.”

Heartwarming volunteer experience with loving animals

“*Tip about directions included* As a first time volunteer and having never owned dogs before, I felt uncertain about how to handle them, and the volunteers at CAS were good in showing me how to care for the animals and building my confidence. I probably needed some TLC myself during that time too, and the animals really gave me so much more love than I could give them. They are fully volunteer-run and the work they do is not easy and time-consuming, so it’s good to support them. They will really appreciate your donations and sponsorships for the animals too! Also I got really attached to a dog called Wiseman (the brown dog that’s always in my photos here haha). He’s bit large (not HDB approved) and has a kind and protective soul! If you’re able to adopt please keep a lookout for him! 🙂 They have other animals (eg cats) for adoption too! TIP: Some have mentioned the place does not exist – it does! Just don’t follow the GPS direction because the road is blocked and it doesn’t go through. Good to check with the shelter people when they give you the location before the day you are supposed to go. From my experience, try going by the new Aerospace highway or Jln Kayu. It is a bit inaccessible and that’s the case with all the animal shelters because of government regulations and space requirements for the dogs to run, but it certainly is worth the trip because there is so much love in the hooman and animals in this place! I’ll always remember the kindness and generosity that people have shown me when I was there. Thanks CAS for existing and making a difference in my life and so many other lives, both people and animals! :)”
