The 6 Best Cake Shops in Singapore

As a self-confessed sweet tooth, I enjoy the opportunity to share desserts, particularly cakes, with friends and family, regardless of the event. After all, cakes are often the centerpiece, always adding a touch of magic to any occasion!

The quest for the next standout cake can indeed be a daunting task, but with this diverse list, you’re certain to impress everyone in your circle, catering to all tastes and preferences.

How We Picked

Price

Eating cakes is a delightful experience, and affordability is a crucial factor to consider. We are examining the pricing across various bakeries to determine which establishment delivers the best value for your money.

Variety

Given the multitude of events and diverse dietary restrictions that need to be accommodated, it’s crucial to find a bakery that’s capable of satisfying everyone’s preferences without compromising on taste and quality.

Quality

Given that cakes are typically shared among people, quality is of utmost importance to ensure both the safety and satisfaction of all those who are indulging.

Pros

  • Healthier choice
  • Guaranteed fresh
  • Cakes are customizable
  • Affordable delivery
  • Free shipping for orders over $100
  • Reasonably priced

Cons

  • Closed from Monday to Wednesday
  • Must order 3 days in advance
  • Closes relatively early

Wunderfolks is a dedicated patisserie renowned for crafting handmade desserts from the ground up, ensuring that every order is fresh and delicious!

If you are not fond of sugar-heavy cakes, perhaps you will find this shop’s fruit-focused items to be more friendly for your palette. Its options are a better choice for individuals who are health conscious.

The customers we talked to mentioned its exceptional delivery service, which offers one of the most competitively priced, same-day delivery services we’ve seen at just $10. Moreover, the shop will waive shipping fees for purchases exceeding $100!

However, Wunderfolks’ commitment to freshness has some drawbacks. Cake orders require a minimum of three days advance notice, which is bad news for customers who need to receive their orders as soon as possible.

Having said that, the shop does have smaller fruit tarts that are readily available for immediate purchase.

Eager customers will find it rather disappointing to know that Wunderfolks is closed from Monday to Wednesday. If you are looking for cake shops that are more available, we recommend checking our other entries on this list.

Overall, Wunderfolks is a great option for those looking for a fresher, healthier alternative to traditional desserts, with its reasonably priced tarts and cakes.

Pros

  • Has been open since 2013
  • Wide variety of cakes and desserts
  • Customizable orders
  • Open from Monday to Sunday
  • Long operating hours

Cons

  • Relatively expensive
  • Customized orders must be done 3 days in advance

Cake Spade is more than just a witty name, it has been delighting customers with its exquisite cakes since 2013! It is well-known as a comprehensive dessert destination offering delivery, dine-in, and takeaway services.

In addition to its whole and sliced cake options, customers can buy Cake Spade’s enticing dessert bars, scrumptious brownies, and luxurious tarts.

We also like that its slice cake offerings can be customized with additional elements, from nuts, fruits, and many more, making it the perfect surprise gift for your loved ones.

While Cake Spade does offer urgent next-day delivery requests, it does not have same-day delivery. However, the shop is open for business from Monday to Sunday with long operating hours on Fridays and Saturdays.

For customized orders, Cake Spade generally recommends ordering two to three days in advance to ensure the cakes are fresh and preparation can be completed with complete satisfaction!

In terms of variety and availability, this cake shop is most definitely one of the best on our list. In terms of price, however, it may be a bit steep as some cakes are priced at $240.

We do like that it has plenty of sizing options in most of its cakes and tarts, which reduces the overall cost. Should you be seeking a more budget-friendly alternative, we suggest exploring the other shops included in this list.

Pros

  • Does not use additives and chemicals in its cakes
  • Plenty of options to choose from
  • Cakes are highly customizable
  • Affordable cakes
  • Has vegan and eggless options

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • Closes relatively earlier than other shops

Despite its unconventional name, Ugly Cake Shop is a well-known creator of exceptional cakes and desserts in Singapore.

Its name merely highlights the shop’s commitment to excluding undesirable additives and chemicals, which could potentially impact the appearance and taste of its artisanal creations.

For those who want a unique experience, the establishment specializes in custom cakes and isn’t opposed to crafting an intentionally funny cake if you choose to do so!

Ugly Cake extends its offerings beyond traditional varieties, also providing vegan and eggless alternatives for a more inclusive dessert experience. We find this quite unique because other shops can’t provide to customers with special dietary needs.

We also like that its prices are quite reasonable, with options that start as low as $15. The establishment’s affordable cakes and numerous variety makes it stand out from other dessert and patisserie shops.

The individuals we interviewed particularly liked the Nicholas Bittersweet Chocolate but we liked the Juliana cake more, because of its superb harmony of sweet and salty notes.

The only downside we found is that the Ugly Cake Shop is closed every Sunday, and closes earlier than its competitors.

Pros

  • Offers sugar-free cakes
  • Ideal choice for those following a keto diet or individuals who are diabetic
  • Uses healthier ingredients
  • Cakes are reasonably priced
  • Transparent with the elements used in cakes

Cons

  • Closed on Mondays
  • Fluctuating operating hours

Kekito Bakery is a unique entry because it specializes in low-carb cakes. It distinguishes itself from the pack of keto bakeries by refraining from the use of maltitol or xylitol in favor of monk’s fruit as a sweetener.

This ensures that the shop can create cakes that don’t provoke an increase in blood sugar levels! It is most definitely a must-try for both health enthusiasts and those who have illnesses.

Kekito Bakery also abstains from certain ingredients or flavors, such as red velvet and soy flour, that are commonly found in other keto cake shops. Its transparent approach is commendable as it adds to the safety of diabetic customers.

However, due to its commitment to using a few selected ingredients, its cake options are comparatively fewer than our other entries.

Having said that, it remains to be one of the best choices for staunch followers of the keto lifestyle, Kekito Bakery offers a guilt-free and tasty solution. With the absence of sugar, flour, and a virtually zero glycemic index, it’s indeed a haven for sugar-free treats!

We find it slightly disappointing that the shop is closed on Mondays. It also has fluctuating operating hours throughout the rest of the week, which hurts its availability.

Pros

  • Does not use additives and chemicals in its cakes
  • Plenty of options to choose from
  • Cakes are highly customizable
  • Affordable cakes
  • Has vegan and eggless options

Cons

  • Some orders take 3 to 7 days to complete
  • No same-day deliveries

Established in 1926, Polar Puffs & Cakes has been a reliable provider of halal-certified baked delights in Singapore. The shop separates itself from its competitors by offering cakes and dessert options for those who observe religious eating guidelines.

Its varied menu spans from savory pastries and sweet cakes to adorable-looking desserts for children.

Based on the feedback we got from previous customers, the shop’s best cake is its Royal Chocolate cake, which is a combination of fresh sponge, blanketed with grenache.

The real crowd-pullers are its custom photo cakes, which typically require three to seven days for personalization. In addition, it offers a choice of piping select colors, and fruit toppings across three different cake sizes.

This establishment follows a straightforward operating schedule from Monday to Sunday and closes much later than other dessert shops.

Take note though that it does not have same-day delivery services, unlike most of its competitors.

However, we like that Polar Puffs has plenty of party packages that are ready on the go. This makes it an ideal choice for customers planning to have a celebration.

With its wide range of affordable, handmade cakes and baked goods, Polar Puffs is without a surprise one of the island’s most recommended establishments.
