Best Wakesurfing Schools in Singapore for Beginners

5 Best Wakesurfing Schools in Singapore for Beginners

Quality of lessons - We selected schools with beginner-friendly classes, coaches who give clear instructions, and high-quality equipment (e.g. tow boats, surfboards, and life vests).

Reputation - We picked schools operating for at least three years with highly experienced coaches.

Customer service - We assessed their ease of booking, responsiveness, and friendliness.

Value for money - We compared the lesson fees to average wakesurfing class rates in Singapore.

Wakesurfing is a perfect entry-level option if you want to dip into water sports for the first time. You don’t need prior surfing experience, and the activity doesn’t require you to visit a surfing spot with actual barrel waves and sand breaks.

The sport relies on a tow boat’s wake to create waves, meaning you can do it even on a lake!

You want to learn the basics now, don’t you? Here’s a list of the city’s best wakesurfing schools you should check out!

How much is wakesurfing in Singapore?

Wakesurfing classes in Singapore usually cost around $150 to $200+ per hour per student. The said rates include the boat ride, surfboards, and safety vests.

Prices can get higher if you opt for a private class (starts at $300) or if you want to combine wakesurfing with other related sports such as wakeboarding and wakefoiling (starts at $250).

Wakesurfing lessons can be pricey in the long run, as you need to attend multiple sessions to excel. Some serious students spend around $1,000 a month for lessons!

2. Wakemusters

Address: 11 Northshore Dr, Singapore 828670 (Google Maps)

Contact: +65 9048-7060 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Saturday to Sunday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Beginners who want to save a few dollars should check out Wakemusters’ group classes. The 2.5-hour session is only $150 per enrollee (one of the lowest rates in the city)!

Moreover, the school’s coaches are all wakesurfing medalists, so you can rest assured that you’ll learn from the greats!

Many first-timers we interviewed said their instructors provided helpful tips and kept the session enjoyable. Also, their failed attempts didn’t discourage them because the coaches were kind!

However, people enrolled in a full-capacity class (five pax) only have 30 minutes to practice. If you don’t want to deal with time pressure, you can opt for the private class, but that’s far more expensive at $350 per hour.

Also, Wakemusters prefers to chat and text rather than call when transacting with customers, which some might dislike.

Pros

  • Affordable group sessions
  • Senior industry player
  • Wakefest medalist coaches

Cons

  • Private sessions are pricey
  • Possible slow response

Firm yet fun instructors

“My friend introduced me to wakesurfing last year and I have since fallen in love with it. I started my journey with Wakemusters and my experience has been nothing but full of fun and laughter. Yes, sometimes my coaches can be very “fierce” but they do it because they want to push me to my full potential. I don’t see Wakemusters as just another wakesurfing operator. I see them as my extended family. Thanks so much for the amazing experience and for many more to come. You guys are the best!” – Debby Wijayakusuma, Google Reviews

Coaches that can get you up on board before the session ends

“Awesome first session with the Wakemusters team! Clean seacraft, experienced instructors that were able to get all 4 of us standing and surfing by the end of the session. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and will definitely be back.” – Tiffany Chua, Google Reviews
