5 Best Badminton Coaches in Singapore That’ll Make Every Drop of Sweat Worth It

  • Pricing: We looked for coaches who offer transparent, reasonable rates for private sessions, group classes, and long-term training packages. Those with flexible pricing options based on frequency, location, and class size were prioritised.
  • Coaching Credentials: We chose coaches with formal training backgrounds, certifications from recognised badminton associations, or competitive playing experience at the national or international level. Coaches with proven teaching methods and professional conduct were rated more favourably.
  • Training Style: We evaluated each coach’s ability to teach clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and motivate students of various skill levels. Coaches who create a supportive, respectful, and focused training environment stand out.
  • Customer Service: We assessed how professionally coaches or their teams handle enquiries, scheduling, and cancellations. Clear communication and responsive support helped certain coaches make our final list.

I never really did sports growing up. Most of the time, it was because sports came with costs—uniforms, practice fees, and transport to tournaments. I figured it wasn’t practical, so I let the idea go.

But deep down, I always wanted to have a sport to call my own.

A while back, I found out that a lot of people in their late twenties or even older were picking up badminton for the first time, just for fun, with zero background.

So when I finally had a bit more freedom (and my own money), I decided to give it a go. I signed up for lessons, found a school I liked, and stayed because I genuinely enjoyed playing with other adults who were also just starting out.

If you’re thinking of doing the same, here are some of the top badminton coaches in Singapore to check out.

Y Badminton Academy is a good pick if you’re looking for serious training with a friendly, encouraging community.

This is because of the coaches, who have plenty of experience under their belt along with certification from the SG-Coach Excellence Programme. The rest of their team is also quick to help when you need support with bookings or updates.

If you sign up, you’ll see how their group classes are meant to cater to all levels and are built around interactive drills, game analysis, and even sparring.

There are also 1-on-1 and sparring classes if you prefer more personalised training. I’ve heard from other players that this is super helpful since Y Academy is known for producing top players in the SG Badminton Association National Ranking!

Just a heads up, pricing is on the higher end, but it’s worth it for the noticeable improvement.

Founded in 2015 by Hong Hui and Jian Dee, Zenith Badminton Academy now spans the island with a team of over 40 SG-Coach certified instructors.

I’ve heard that sessions are considered high-energy, and many say they’ve built real mental resilience here.

Classes are broken down by age and skill level, and there’s flexibility in choosing your coach, including private sessions with senior instructors.

Coaches like Joshua get regular shoutouts for being sharp-eyed and kind. On the other hand, the head instructor is known for dropping little life lessons during training!

Plus, the admin support is pretty responsive, which matters when you’re juggling weekday sessions or looking to reschedule.

The academy also organises tournaments, holiday camps, and even community projects, giving players a chance to grow outside regular sessions.

I’d say the only thing you should consider is that the training with top-tier coaches comes with a premium price tag.

Pros

  • Over 40 SG-Coach certified instructors
  • High-energy sessions
  • Classes grouped by age and skill level
  • Option to choose your coach
  • Skilled coaches
  • Responsive admin support
  • Offers various opportunities

Cons

  • Training with senior coaches is more expensive

Their coaching style is both motivating and detail-oriented, helping me improve my technique and strategy significantly.

Coach Xi Qing and Coach George are all very outstanding instructors—patient, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about the sport. Their coaching style is both motivating and detail-oriented, helping me improve my technique and strategy significantly. Highly recommend this academy to anyone looking to elevate their badminton skills under the guidance of a top-notch coach!

She is incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and willing to share her techniques.

Although Coach Qing isn’t my personal coach, I’ve had the chance to speak with her and observe her sessions. She has impressed me in many ways. Coach Qing is highly recommended!

Meow Badminton Academy has built quite a name for itself, thanks to Coach Shawn’s reputation as both a skilled player and a patient teacher.

He’s certified under the SG-Coach Excellence Programme, and it’s seen in how well-structured and adaptable his lessons are.

I noticed this in the consistent feedback—students across all ages talk about noticeable improvements in just a few sessions!

As for the school in general, the academy offers both one-on-one and group classes, with players grouped by level, so you’re always sparring with someone around your skill range.

There’s even a fun twist with their Thailand Badminton Training programme, where students get to train with Thai players for extra challenge and exposure.

Their customer service is also top-notch. Charlotte, who handles most of the inquiries, is often praised for being helpful, fast, and courteous.

Just be warned—Coach Shawn’s schedule fills up fast!

Effective coaching has helped me correct my techniques with ease.

I have been training with Coach Shawn for three months, and I have already seen significant improvements in my game. His patience and clear, effective coaching has helped me correct my techniques with ease. In addition, each session is well-structured and tailored to my needs. I am looking forward to continuing to progress under his guidance.

Shawn turned out to be a skilled and enjoyable coach to train with.

I came across them on Instagram, and their rates for one-on-one sessions were quite reasonable, so I decided to give it a try. Be A Champ Academy is one of Singapore’s most established badminton schools, founded in 2010 by Coach Daniel Tan with the goal of balancing strong technical training and good character development.

Their coaches are fully certified under the NCAP Level 1 and even hold credentials from the Badminton World Federation.

Every instructor is also first aid certified and trained to work with students of all ages. You can expect detailed and progressive training—beginner classes for kids and adults, intermediate and advanced levels, private coaching, and tournament prep.

It’s not just the coaches who are being praised. Hui Ling is recognised for her warm service that makes onboarding easy.

Considering their holistic training and impressive track record in interschool competitions, the fees are pretty reasonable.

If there’s one hiccup, one person mentioned occasional delays in replies—but it’s clear they’re committed to improving.

Pros

  • Certified coaches
  • Progressive programs for all levels and ages
  • Offers private coaching and tournament prep
  • Helpful onboarding service
  • Impressive track record
  • Reasonable pricing

Cons

Coach Erik and his team of solid and patient coaches, along with the great support from Hui Ling on the admin front, have made it fun, easy and unforgettable.

BE A Champion has provided my boy a sterling and solid platform to pursue his passion in badminton. Coach Erik and his team of solid and patient coaches, along with the great support from Hui Ling on the admin front, have made it fun, easy and unforgettable. Duke has gone on to captain his school’s team and was awarded the sportsmanship award at the NSG, topping his table in the games. He has made significant improvements and progress along the way. We sincerely thank BAC and highly recommend those considering an enriching path ahead to embark on their journey with the school.

Coach Daniel can tailor his program to fit every single player.

Best coach in Singapore! After a few years of learning and playing badminton. I’ve had different kinds of classes and coaches. As a 40+ year-old learner, Coach Daniel can tailor his program to fit every single player. He is an excellent observer who looks into every little detail in a way to fine-tune your technique. It really helps to improve from the foundation to advanced mind strategy skills. From theory to practice, from physical to strategy. I am so glad that I joined Be a Champ.

AZE Badminton Academy is a thriving community where growth, passion, and performance come together. Co-founded by former Malaysian state players Jerry Ng and Amanda Khoo, the organisation has world-class coaching with strong values.

Their team created a full-fledged ecosystem: structured classes for all levels, in-house tournaments, and even overseas camps. I found out that even admin support is run directly by the founders, and players mention how friendly and organised they are.

The institute is home to BWF-certified coaches, many of whom are praised not just for their experience but for their ability to inspire and connect.

Parents and adult learners alike consistently highlight how their children or they themselves improved in both skill and confidence under hands-on guidance from coaches.

Surprisingly, the rates are competitive, especially considering the academy’s offerings, including optional holiday programs.

That said, make sure to inquire early since slots fill up fast.

Pros

  • World-class coaching with a strong emphasis on values
  • Various opportunities available
  • Friendly and organised admin support
  • BWF-certified coaches
  • Consistent improvement among students
  • All ages are welcome
  • Competitive rates
