5 Best Options for Guitar Lessons in Singapore That Will Have You Playing Like a Pro
For years, the old guitar in our living room collected dust. One day, I attempted to play it, producing a noise reminiscent of yowling cats. After a laughable attempt at teaching myself, it was clear I needed professional help.
That led me on a quest across Singapore—not for hidden treasure but for great guitar lessons to transform my earnest but painful efforts into something remotely musical.
I was looking for more than just technical skills; I wanted a vibrant community that would make learning an exhilarating journey. Long story short, that dusty guitar is now my best buddy, and our duets no longer sound like a wildlife scare tactic.
Feeling the itch to strum your way from guitar zero to hero with some expert guidance? I’ve lined up the best places for guitar lessons in Singapore to start your journey, combining skill-building with outright fun. Let’s get those strings singing the right tune!

Professional and patient music instruction
“This is a good place to learn music courses. The teachers are very senior and experience. They are also a musical instruments struments store which carries 4 different brands, Casio, Yamaha,Korg and Roland. They have a wide range and the customer service there is very patient and no pushing. Thank you music works for your professionalism.”

Encouraging and patient teaching that builds confidence and skills
“Teacher Grace is a very patient and encouraging teacher. While some schools have ipad screens for scores, I very much prefer how Teacher Grace Tan has them learn the notes properly and teaches them by book. Less screen time and better focus. As the pieces get tougher, children get frustrated but her sincere praises and encouragement help them to get over – my daughter willingly practises on her own. When my younger daughter had stage fright during the recital, she was very encouraging and accompanied her to finish her last piece, helping her to overcome her fear and allowing her to finish her last song.”

And no worries if you’re just starting out or don’t have a guitar yet. They provide guitars and footstools during class, which we find pretty convenient.
One student we chatted with couldn’t stop praising the studio’s humidity-controlled environment. They mentioned it really helps in getting the best sound quality possible.
Just a heads-up if you’ve got a hectic or unpredictable schedule, take note: lesson times at Classical Guitar Lessons Singapore are fixed, and rescheduling flexibility is limited.
Excellent instruction rapidly enhances both technical skill and musicality
“Dedrick Koh is an excellent guitar instructor with a highly effective teaching system that helps students improve as quickly as their time commitment and diligence allows. He also has a wealth of knowledge on all musical styles and periods, and a way of imparting it such that the student acquires not just technical skill but also develops their musicality while respecting the conventions of each musical style. Both in-person and zoom classes are available and prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended for anyone who wishes to achieve their potential in the pursuit of the classical guitar.“

Meticulous and patient teaching
I began lessons with Dedrick just over a year ago with no experience with classical guitar. With his guidance, I have just passed Trinity Grade 4 with distinction and classical guitar has become such a big part of my life. Dedrick is meticulous and patient in his teaching. He is very observant of fine details of technique and sound and I really appreciate his clear feedback on how to improve. I look forward to our lesson every week and always leave feeling encouraged to keep working on playing more musically. Dedrick also makes sure to discuss the historical context and music theory of the pieces we play. He has a great ability to express musical concepts in a way that is relatable and inviting and makes me curious to know more. The pace of learning has also been just nice, challenging but not overwhelming. Dedrick’s studio is well-equipped and a very pleasant learning environment. Though I prefer face-to-face lessons, I found he is able to conduct lessons over Zoom just as effectively and I’m glad to have the option when I can’t meet in person. I highly recommend Dedrick as a teacher, it is clear he has a lot of experience with all types of students and has carefully provided for all aspects of the learning experience. Thanks Dedrick! This instrument has given me so much joy.“
