Pros

  • Encourages creativity and curiosity
  • Impressive facilities
  • Multiple locations
  • Bilingual lessons
  • Play sessions
  • Gym classes

Cons

  • Pricey
  • More focused on arts

Viv’s Schoolhouse is an international preschool and childcare center in Queen Street that specializes in educating children between the ages of 18 months and 6 years old.

We love that it has a bilingual immersion program that aims to help children achieve a firm mastery of both English and Mandarin.

Aside from that, the children are also taught at an early age about other cultures and to be respectful of them.

Another great thing about this school is it encourages children to engage with their five senses through experiential learning. This teaches them to be observant and aware of their surroundings.

Viv’s Schoolhouse also offers impressive facilities and has multiple locations, as well as play sessions, gym classes, and other activities to encourage creativity and curiosity in children.

Some potential drawbacks might include its relatively high price point, as well as its focus on arts and creativity rather than more traditional academic subjects.

However, we believe this isn’t that big of a deal especially since preschool is not a prerequisite for later grade levels where they can focus more on science and math.

Viv’s Schoolhouse is a very well-regarded preschool in Singapore that aims to nurture well-rounded, kind children with a strong appreciation for diversity and cultural understanding.

Rain Trees is an independent, international kindergarten, nursery, and preschool in Holland Rd. that was established in 1999.

It accepts children aged 18 months to 6 years old and aims to provide a fun, friendly, and challenging environment for learning.

A variety of developmental domains, including emotional development, communication, language and literacy, problem-solving, general knowledge, physical development, and creative development, are emphasized in the Rain Trees curriculum.

We are glad to say that the institution is renowned for placing a strong emphasis on language and literacy education and for adhering to international teaching standards.

In addition to its academic program, Rain Trees encourages parents to be actively involved in their kids’ education by taking part in a variety of activities and events, such as reading to the kids, planning craft activities, going on field trips, and more.

We’re a bit iffy on its price point which might be because it’s relatively high, especially for new parents.

However, many current families feel that the quality of the curriculum and the positive learning environment at the school justify the cost.

Overall, Rain Trees is an impressive preschool in Singapore that offers a comprehensive and engaging curriculum and encourages parent involvement in the educational process.

Pros

  • Impressive curriculum
  • Experienced teachers
  • Personal touch
  • Also teaches language lessons
  • Communication lessons

Cons

  • No open tours
  • Strict schedule

GUG Preschool, also known as Growing Up Gifted, was founded by Deanne Chong-Duffield.

Deanne has a background in law and was originally trained as a Barrister-at-Law. She later decided to pursue her love of teaching and obtained a Masters in Education to become a Curriculum Specialist in Early Childhood Education.

Early literacy and numeracy abilities, logical reasoning, creativity, and communication are all emphasized in the preschool’s curriculum.

The school also provides Chinese language instruction, music, and movement activities, science projects, and intermediate phonics classes. Its balance of creative activities like art and more logical pursuits like math and science is commendable.

It has experienced teachers and offers a personal touch with its teaching methods. This got it recognized as one of the best preschools in Singapore by many award-giving bodies.

However, one drawback of GUG Preschool might be the lack of open tours for prospective parents to visit the school and see the facilities and programs firsthand.

Additionally, it has a strict enrolling schedule so potential students have to be enrolled early in the year so they don’t lose their slot.

With that said, GUG Preschool is still a high-quality preschool in Singapore that offers a comprehensive and engaging curriculum and is committed to helping children develop their individual gifts and achieve their full potential.

The goal of the school is to help kids grow into self-assured, resilient individuals with strong leadership, expressiveness, creativity, and happiness.

The school takes a balanced approach that mixes play with school preparedness.

We appreciate that Kiddiwinkie Schoolhouse has a curriculum that prepares children for the primary school curriculum in both local and international schools.

It has a strong bilingual environment that provides equal exposure to English and Chinese, with a focus on helping children master the key skills of both languages.

Along with its academic curriculum, it also places a strong emphasis on character development, which helps kids develop resilience and good morals. It provides exposure to many cultures through a robust multi-cultural immersion program.

Unfortunately, the school’s tuition can be expensive, so we suggest that parents check its prices first before deciding to enroll their child.

This extensive network can be beneficial for parents seeking convenient and reliable childcare solutions.

We like their commitment to providing clean and conducive learning spaces is a positive aspect. A well-maintained environment can contribute to a positive learning experience for young children, fostering a comfortable and nurturing atmosphere.

The curriculum’s use of literature and expert techniques, such as immersive storytelling and open-ended discussions, demonstrates a commitment to developing critical thinking and creativity in children.

This is also something unique about them and we think it gives them an edge.

Encouraging them to tackle concepts from multiple perspectives contributes to a well-rounded educational experience.

What we also like is their emphasis on nurturing children to be happy learners, empathic thinkers, respectful, confident communicators, and open collaborators reflects a holistic approach to education.
