Active Global Specialised Caregivers began in 2012 to meet the increasing demand for personalised home-based care for the elderly in Asia. Today, they operate in both Singapore and Hong Kong.

Their Singapore branch offers various home health care assistance, from part-time and live-in caregivers to private nursing. We appreciate their wide range of home medical services, including vaccinations, ultrasound, ECG, and IV therapy. 

Several previous patients love the centre’s home peritoneal dialysis. The treatment allowed them to undergo a continuous, 24-hour cleansing, which leads to less waste buildup.

One thing to watch out for, though, is the foreign carers who are not fluent in English.

Homage was founded in 2016 by Gillian Tee. The idea materialised when several of her close relatives were diagnosed with chronic conditions requiring specialised care.

Her centre consists of a fully Singaporean team, ensuring there’ll be no communication challenges. They offer a comprehensive range of home health care services, including home nursing, home therapies, and specialised care.

Most clients we spoke to praised the centre’s innovative operation. Their mobile app allows seamless booking and viewing of their staff’s qualifications. However, it’s because of this that we find them less suitable for those who are not that familiar with technology.

NTUC Health opened to the public in 1997, beginning with day care services for middle-income households. Later on, their offerings expanded to include home-based health care.

They provide a diverse range of home health support, including home nursing, home medical services, and interim caregiver assistance.

We love their home therapies, particularly physiotherapy and occupational therapy, which are tailored to your environment, enabling you to learn to manoeuvre in your own space.

If there’s anything that could be improved, it would be their staff’s punctuality. Some patients reported that their carer arrived more than half an hour late.

Mr Matsumato is the founder and CEO of Furusato Home, renowned in Japan for its policy of never declining patients who need intensive care. He brought this service model to Singapore through iKare.

The centre takes pride in having a dedicated multidisciplinary team that collaborates closely to deliver personalised assistance. Their nurses and doctors meet regularly to devise care plans for their patients. 

They offer various levels of home health care services, from ADL and respite care to companionship. They also have several home nursing options, including post-hospitalisation assistance, wound care, and NGT care.

But for us, what makes them stand out is their SPARK programme. It’s a specialised cognitive care consisting of sessions designed to stimulate multiple senses simultaneously.

With such services, it’s worth noting that the centre has a long waiting list on some occasions, according to longtime clients.

This 1-1 session homecare service works well for my mum

“I have engaged Ikare Spark Program for my mum since January. She is enjoying her 1-1 session with the therapist, Iris twice a week. We are unable to stop dementia but we can try to slow down the process with some cognitive training activities and engagement program. My mum doesn’t like to interact with big group of people. What we like most is their chronic disease management, which ensures patients can live independently through proactive monitoring and tailored care plans.

However, due to the centre’s high ratings, several clients experienced difficulties booking an appointment.
