You might see a lot of cars passing through Newton Road, as it connects Novena to the nearby expressway.

If you’re up for a bit of a hike, this portion is going to be exciting for you. Nestled in the road less traveled of Bukit Brown Cemetery, Bukit Brown Avatar Trees will make it worth the trip. 

These majestic trees have their way of transporting visitors to an enchanting landscape, earning them the nickname “Avatar Trees”, reminiscent of the fantastical world of the movie of the same name. 

You don’t have to be an expert hiker to enjoy the trails. However, considering its location, you might have to be prepared for some ghost sightings.

If we didn’t get lost when we were looking for the way back to the MRT station, we wouldn’t have discovered this place. 

The prawn-paste chicken is loved by many for its crispy texture, rich flavors, and fresh taste. It’s a must-try especially if you love seafood

The beef hor fun also steals the spotlight for being one of the few traditional versions in Singapore.

Chui Huay Lim Teochew Cuisine has never failed us with its flavorful Chinese delights. In fact, we’ve been here over the years, but the quality of their dishes has been consistent all throughout. 

The oyster omelette is the certified chart-topper, for its perfectly crispy exterior and surprisingly soft interior. It’s a comforting dish best enjoyed with a drizzle of sweet chili sauce.

Indonesian food isn’t difficult to come by in Singapore, given our close proximity to Indonesia. However, options in Novena are somewhat limited. 

Yet, fear not, as Indosunda’s offerings more than make up for the scarcity. After all, it’s all about quality over quantity!

Expect to see a lot of traditional Indonesian food, served with authentic flavors on the menu. 

The pesmol is a popular choice among regulars, which we recommend to those who like a lot of complex flavors and spices in their dish.

Those seeking a filling hawker center adventure in Singapore won’t find themselves disappointed if they visit Novena. Just check out Whampoa Food Centre if you’re in the area. 

The Hokkien mee is everyone’s favorite here. This tasty stir-fried dish is drenched in savory sauce and generously topped with a medley of seafood. 

It offers a unique blend of flavors, promising a comforting meal that’s sure to please your taste buds. 

If you’re still not convinced that it’s Whampoa’s top dish, just look at the lines at the stall. Locals line up because they know it’s worth it! 

Anyway, if you’re an indecisive group of friends, you won’t have a hard time finding your next dinner spot, because you’ll be presented with an array of choices here. Well, of course, that’s what hawkers are known for!

That said, the salty is the more popular choice, and it’s our personal favorite as well. 

It can be eaten as a dessert or just a plain ‘ol snack. 

In addition to this tasty baked delight, they have a wide range of cakes and Swiss rolls, all of which also hit the spot. For a real treat, consider getting the orange cake

Since it’s a popular spot among locals, long lines tend to form here just before and during noon. It’s best to go at a different time if you can to avoid the lunchtime rush.

The lechon sisig meal is a popular choice among our Filipino friends, which is best savored with a nice cold San Miguel beer, which they also have here. 

But if you want to enjoy the traditional dish often served during lively Filipino parties, the chopped lechon is the number one must-try. The meat is perfectly tender with deliciously crispy skin that makes a sound as soon as you bite it.
